One common problem we saw during the 2022 tax filing season is that people are not having enough withheld on their paychecks. This is partly because the IRS has changed the withholding tables so that less is withheld which gives taxpayers more money in their pockets throughout the year. Use this IRS tool to estimate how much your withholding should be per paycheck.
Below is a link to the IRS website that contains information about the additional child tax credit. Who qualifies, how much they should be, etc. They even have a tool to help you determine your eligibility.
You will receive a form from the IRS in January 2022. It will have the total amount of advanced credit that you received. We must have this form to prepare your tax return because it is required on your tax return that we reconcile the amount you received with the amount that you are eligible for. Please bring that form to our office with all of your other tax information.
If so, please provide the amounts to us when you drop off your tax return information.
