1.) you get to schedule the exact date to pay the IRS,
2.) you receive confirmation/reciept that it was paid, and
3.) it is actually more secure than a check.
The IRS has a convienent way for you to check your online account with them. The account contains information for you to access your individual prior tax returns, view tax transcripts, make payments, view payment history, request an installment agreement plan, manage communication preferences, and view tax professional authorizations. The IRS has a tool on their website that allows you to check the status of your return and when you will receive your refund. Go to the link below and enter your information to check when your refund is scheduled to be sent to you.
Do you need to check out your amended return status? The IRS has a special tool for you to check the processing status of it. Here is the link to the IRS website to use this tool.
One common problem we saw during the 2022 tax filing season is that people are not having enough withheld on their paychecks. This is partly because the IRS has changed the withholding tables so that less is withheld which gives taxpayers more money in their pockets throughout the year. Use this IRS tool to estimate how much your withholding should be per paycheck.
